Camillus is an intensive-type bearded wheat hybrid, registered in 2025 by the Austrian company Saatzucht Donau. This complex hybrid is designed for maximum yield performance under strict intensive farming protocols. The key feature of the variety is the combination of high ear grain count and large grain size, which requires precise adherence to agrotechnological timelines.

Agrotechnical Requirements and Sowing Strategy

Choosing the right predecessor is critical for realizing the hybrid's genetic potential. The best results are recorded when planted after fallow or legumes.

• Sowing dates: While standard calendar dates for the specific climatic zone are optimal, Camillus demonstrates high plasticity if the sowing campaign is shifted to later dates, maintaining strong tillering energy.
• Seeding rate: It is recommended to follow an intensive placement scheme of 3.5–4.5 million viable seeds per hectare, depending on soil moisture and sowing timing.
• Soil profile: The hybrid is adapted to a wide range of soils but performs best on highly fertile chernozems and gray forest soils with a pH level of 6.0–7.5.

Care Throughout Vegetation Phases

Intensive technology involves mandatory nitrogen application in three stages: spring vegetation renewal (to stimulate tillering), stem elongation (to form a productive stand), and heading phase (to improve grain quality). Due to high resistance to powdery mildew, leaf rust, and fusarium head blight, fungicide protection can be optimized; however, preventive treatments at the flag leaf stage remain mandatory to prevent secondary infections.
