Wheat BG Klimatika

Genetic Potential and Morphology of BG Klimatika

Winter wheat BG Klimatika from the Slovenian breeding company Biogranum d.o.o. is a prime example of a modern European approach to cereal selection, focused on high adaptability to changing climate conditions. Developed with the expertise of Borislav Kobiljski, this variety combines resilience with an intensive development profile.

Key Characteristics and Agronomic Features

• Plant Type: A short-stature variety (stem height of 70–80 cm), ensuring excellent lodging resistance even under high nitrogen fertilization rates.
• Morphology: Awned ear type, which acts as a protective mechanism against bird damage and enhances photosynthetic activity during the grain-filling phase.
• Vegetation Period: The variety demonstrates a fast maturity cycle (90–100 days), which is critical for regions with short spring moisture availability.

The technical value of BG Klimatika lies in its balance between a short vegetation period and high yield potential. The breeding engineers at Biogranum d.o.o. focused on an optimal canopy structure that allows the plant to efficiently allocate nutrients to the ear, minimizing non-productive energy losses during vegetative growth.

For agronomists, this translates into predictable performance: the short height reduces risks during intensive cultivation, while the awned ear provides extra vigor under temperature stress. The variety is designed for farmers aiming for consistent grain quality while adhering to tight agrotechnical windows.
