The Timocha watermelon variety is a mid-season variety of table use, bred in the Volgograd region. The plant is powerful with a main vine length of 2.5 to 3 meters, which ensures good development and formation of fruits. The vegetative period is 85-87 days, which allows for harvesting in medium terms. The fruits have an oval or elliptical shape, are large, and weigh from 8 to 12 kilograms. Their skin is dark green with a characteristic pattern of spiny narrow stripes of a darker shade, which gives the watermelon an attractive appearance.
The flesh of the Timocha watermelon is tender, pink-red, differs in bright color and very high taste qualities, which makes it especially sweet and pleasant to the taste. The dry matter content in the flesh varies from 12 to 15%, which indicates the high sweetness and juiciness of the fruits. The seeds are small and black, which is also a positive characteristic for consumers. The fruits are resistant to baking, which allows them to maintain their quality even under unfavorable weather conditions.
The variety has high resistance to diseases, in particular to fusarium and anthracnose, and also withstands high air temperatures well, which makes it a reliable choice for growing in a hot climate. The commercial yield of the variety reaches 197 centners per hectare, and the potential yield can be 35-40 tons per hectare. All these qualities make the Timocha watermelon a demanded and promising variety for commercial growing and consumption.
