To improve taste quality, periodic root watering and application of organic and mineral fertilizers are recommended.
The fruits of Charleston Gray watermelon are elongated-cylindrical in shape, resembling large zucchini, weighing from 12 to 18 kg and measuring up to 40-50 cm in length and 30-35 cm in diameter. The skin is light green with dark green netting or without distinct stripes, which helps protect the fruit from sunburn. The thick, hard rind, up to 20 mm thick, ensures excellent transportability and storage, keeping the fruit fresh and flavorful for 2-3 months. Fruits are harvested 4-5 days before full ripening to preserve quality and extend storage life.
