Walnut 'Gomorov Memory' – a high-yielding and cold-hardy variety, known for its high-quality timber and tasty fruits. The trees grow quickly, reaching a height of 4–5 m, have a wide canopy of medium density, and a strong base. The fruits are large, oval, with a thin but tough shell, a light cream kernel that contains about 75% of the nut mass. The kernel has a high fat and protein content, and the flesh is sweet, making the nuts particularly valuable in the market.
The variety is resistant to frost down to –30 °C, withstands USDA zones 4b (–28.9 °C to –31.7 °C), and has good drought resistance. It also demonstrates high immunity to fungal diseases, which reduces the need for agrochemical treatment. 'Gomorov Memory' fruits ripen at the end of September – beginning of October, and the tree begins to bear fruit as early as the 3rd–4th year after planting and steadily produces a harvest by the 5th year.
For growing, open ground with good drainage is recommended. Planting scheme – 6×6 m or 8×8 m, and the size of the planting hole must be sufficient for the root system (about 60 cm in each dimension). The tree is self-pollinating, but if desired, several varieties can be placed nearby to increase yield. The yield of one adult tree is from 30 to 35 kg and more, making it attractive for both private gardeners and commercial plantations.
