Breeding Legacy: The 'Memory of Professor Veresin' Walnut

The 'Memory of Professor Veresin' walnut is an example of specialized breeding, resulting from the long-term efforts of scientists Maina Ulyukina, Mikhail Veresin, and Alexander Eshchenko. This variety was developed to adapt the crop to specific climatic conditions, where cold resistance and stable fruiting are paramount. Currently, the rights to distribute and propagate this planting material belong to Lyudmila Kuzminichna Novichikhina, who acts as the official producer and patent holder.

Agrobiological Features

This variety is classified as a medium-growth tree, which is a significant advantage for establishing intensive and semi-intensive orchards. Its compact crown simplifies agricultural tasks, including pruning and harvesting, while allowing for more efficient use of land area.

• Nut Weight: The fruits are of medium size, ranging from 8.0 to 9.0 grams.
• Kernel Color: The kernel features a characteristic brown hue, which is valued in industrial processing.

Despite the influx of foreign selection varieties on the market, 'Memory of Professor Veresin' remains relevant due to its developmental predictability and adaptability. The original breeders placed significant emphasis on ensuring the variety matures properly in temperate climates, making it a reliable choice for growers focused on consistent results without the need for excessive, specialized maintenance.

Practical Application

Due to its moderate size, this variety is perfectly suited for farming operations where planting density and ease of care are priorities. The produce obtained from these trees possesses good market qualities that meet current industry standards. By purchasing saplings from Lyudmila Kuzminichna Novichikhina, the customer receives material that adheres to the original genetic line established by the developers at the time of the variety's creation.
