Walnut variety "Arkad" – is a high-value product with excellent taste and technological properties. The medium-sized tree reaches a height of 5–7 m in 20 years, has a round crown of medium density, and branches depart from the trunk at an acute angle. The bark is light gray, the shoot is greenish-brown, and the leaves are oval-elongated and matte with wavy edges.
The fruits are medium-sized, round-elongated, and weigh about 8.9 g. The shell is thin, smooth, shiny, and strong, ensuring good kernel separation – 52 %. The kernel is white, dry, dense, with 69 % fat and 18.9 % protein content. In fresh form, the walnut has a sweet taste, rated at 5 points. The yield reaches 40 c/ha at full fruiting; the tree usually begins fruiting in the seventh year.
The variety is characterized by high drought and heat load resistance, and is suitable for mechanized harvesting: the completeness of shucking fruits-walnuts at the beginning of maturity reaches 95 %. Due to these characteristics, "Arkad" is a universal choice both for home growing and commercial walnut production.
