Common walnut Bukovynskyi 2 (8804524)

Stable yields with minimal maintenance

For those establishing a walnut orchard for decades to come, 'Bukovsky 2' remains a benchmark of Ukrainian breeding. From an operational standpoint, this is a forgiving tree. Being a vigorous grower, it quickly forms a dense canopy, so proper spacing is essential to prevent overcrowding and maintain fruit quality. In terms of maintenance, the variety is highly predictable: due to its strong natural resistance to Marssonina leaf spot (anthracnose), the need for chemical fungicide treatments is significantly lower compared to imported cultivars.

Harvesting and fruit handling

The elliptical shape of the nuts is ideal for automated sorting lines. Growers note that the nuts release easily from the branches, which is a major advantage during peak harvest windows. The kernel boasts a rich, balanced flavor without excessive bitterness, ensuring strong marketability. If stored in controlled humidity conditions, the light-brown skin color of the kernel remains stable over long periods.

• Type: Walnut variety.
• Vigor: Strong, rapid development of vegetative mass.
• Phytosanitary profile: High resistance to Marssonina.
• Commercial quality: Elliptical nut shape with high-quality kernels.

We recommend this variety for professional producers focused on cost-optimized operations. With proper training and pruning, the trees are easy to manage, and their consistent high productivity typically offsets maintenance costs within the first few years of bearing.
