Common walnut DUET

Selection Profile and Genetic Foundation

The walnut variety «Duet» is the outcome of dedicated breeding work by M.K. Ulyukina, M.M. Veresin, and A.G. Eshchenko. As the patent holder and producer, L.K. Novichikhina ensures the maintenance of line purity during seedling propagation. This variety is tailored for stable yields in climate zones with moderate temperature regimes, making it a strategic choice for growers prioritizing adaptive plant varieties.

Agrobiological Characteristics of the Fruit

The technical profile of the «Duet» variety centers on end-product quality. The brown color of the kernel serves as a primary visual and consumer identifier. For professional agricultural producers, this is a critical metric for assessing commercial value; the uniform pigmentation indicates proper ripening biochemistry and a balanced concentration of tannins in the pellicle, which ensures better shelf life during long-term storage.

• Selection Genesis: The variety integrates insights from the academic school of pomology, emphasizing resistance to local phytopathogens.
• Visual Classification: The brown kernel is a distinct varietal feature that simplifies grading and quality control processes.
• Practical Application: Suitable for both intensive commercial orchards and farms focusing on high-quality production with predictable physical and chemical properties.

Opting for «Duet» from L.K. Novichikhina is a decision based on a verified breeding foundation, where every step—from nursery establishment to seedling distribution—is governed by the originators. Consistent fruiting and high-quality kernels allow this variety to be integrated into supply chains for both retail markets and food processing facilities.
