Common walnut Dnipro

Reliable Yields in Ukrainian Orchards

The 'Dnipro' walnut is a variety focused on predictability and resistance to diseases that often devastate young plantations. The main advantage of this cultivar lies in its complex defense against two primary threats: Marssonina leaf spot (brown spot) and bacteriosis. In high-humidity conditions, where other varieties require frequent chemical treatment, 'Dnipro' maintains healthy foliage, which directly impacts the quality of kernel development.

Agrotechnical Profile

The tree reaches a moderate height of 5–7 meters, making it practical for both private gardens and commercial orchards. Its compact nature allows for closer planting without significantly sacrificing canopy light exposure. Key characteristics:

• High immunity to fungal infections (Marssonina) and bacterial damage.
• Restrained growth, simplifying harvesting and maintenance pruning.
• Stable fruiting, well-adapted to the climatic zones of Ukraine.

Who is this variety for?

The 'Dnipro' variety is optimal for growers who seek a balance between productivity and minimal intervention. If you want to reduce the number of fungicide applications and choose a tree that is forgiving of common horticultural errors, this variety will serve as a solid foundation for your walnut orchard. However, it is worth noting that to reach its full potential, the tree requires fertile soil and sufficient space for proper crown development.
