Common walnut Podilskyi Bokoplidnyi

Lateral Bearing: The Key to Efficiency

"Podilskyi Bokoplidnyi" represents a significant advancement in Ukrainian walnut breeding, specifically designed for growers who prioritize early and consistent yields. Unlike traditional varieties that produce fruits primarily at the terminal ends of branches, this variety sets generative buds laterally. This trait significantly increases the density of the fruit per canopy volume, a crucial factor for intensive orchard management.

Resilience in the Field

Walnut production is often hindered by Marssonina leaf blotch and bacterial blight, which can devastate harvests during wet seasons. The "Podilskyi" variety stands out due to its inherent genetic resistance. The tree requires fewer chemical interventions, directly reducing production costs and environmental impact. For the modern farmer, this means a more stable profit margin without the heavy reliance on complex fungicide programs.

Key Characteristics for Quality Yields

• Tree Architecture: Being a medium-growth variety, it allows for denser planting patterns, making harvesting operations more efficient.
• Nut Quality: The light, beige kernel ensures high market value, as light-colored walnuts are consistently preferred by premium buyers over darker varieties.
• Flavor Profile: The kernel is notably sweet, lacking the bitterness often found in other varieties due to lower tannin content in the pellicle, making it a favorite for the confectionary market.

This variety is ideal for orchards seeking a balance between low-maintenance requirements and high-market-value end products. Given its early bearing potential and robust disease resistance, it is a smart choice for those looking to establish a profitable and long-lasting walnut orchard.
