Krasen

The hazelnut variety Krasen' is a vigorous tree with a spreading or round crown of medium density, reaching heights of 4 to 15 meters depending on growing conditions. This variety was developed in 1995 at the Transnistrian Experimental Station for Horticulture and is characterized by high cold hardiness, resistance to major diseases such as marsonia, and low maintenance requirements. Krasen' is well-adapted to various climatic conditions and is suitable for both personal cultivation and commercial production. The fruits of the Krasen' variety are large, weighing from 6 to 18.5 grams, with a bright reddish shell and a pleasant oily flavor. The nuts ripen by the end of September and have an excellent market appearance, making them popular in culinary use. Fruit production begins as early as the 2nd–4th year after planting, with clusters of 6–17 nuts. In good years, one tree can yield up to 140–150 kg of harvest. For successful cultivation of the Krasen' variety, a well-lit area with loose, fertile soil enriched with manure, peat, dolomitic flour, and wood ash is required. It is recommended to maintain a spacing of 5–6 meters between seedlings to ensure optimal growth and fruiting. The plant requires regular and abundant watering, especially during the vegetative period. Due to its cold and disease resistance, the Krasen' variety is an excellent choice for gardeners in various regions.
