Nokione EA is an Italian hazelnut variety prized for its medium-sized nuts with a thick shell and light brown striped husk. The nuts are easy to blanch, and the kernel yields about 38%. The tree is characterized by good growth energy and high productivity with medium growth vigor, making it suitable for planting even in less favorable soil conditions due to its strong root system. The fruiting period is mid-early, and the male catkins bloom early, while the female ones bloom on average.
For optimal yield, pollinators such as Tonda Gentile Romana and Tonda di Giffoni, Lansing, Jefferson, and Merveille de Bollwiller are recommended. Yield reaches up to 3500 kg/ha, and nuts are harvested in clusters of 3–4 pieces. The tree can grow up to 7 meters in height and live for approximately 100 years, while maintaining high frost resistance – it withstands temperatures down to -40 °C.
Hazelnut (forest nut), which is part of this product, grows as a shrub (2–5 m) or a tree (up to 7 m). The nuts are single-seeded with a dense shell and covered by a husk. The cover has a bell-shaped form in a light green shade, and the nut is slightly elongated up to 17 mm. Maturation period is August–September. Hazelnut also exhibits good disease resistance and high frost tolerance, making it a valuable addition to the assortment.
