Early Ripening is an early-ripening cherry variety that begins to yield vitamin-rich fruit as early as late May. Trees of this variety are decorative and attractive during flowering, have densely leafed branches, and a broad pyramidal canopy raised on a slender trunk. The fruits are large, oval-heart-shaped, with a smooth, glossy red skin that darkens fully ripe. The average berry weight is 5-6 grams, with premium specimens reaching 8-9 grams.
The flesh of Early Ripening cherry is juicy, deep red with a marbled effect, streaked with light veins. It is tender, finely textured, and slightly fibrous, easily separates from the small stone, and offers a pleasant, crisp crunch when bitten. The juice is transparent-red, and the flavor varies with ripening—from sweet with a hint of acidity to a deep wine-like sweetness.
The tree is vigorous, reaching up to 6 meters tall, with a rounded or inverted pyramidal canopy of moderate density. It begins to bear fruit on the 5th–6th year after planting. Early Ripening is partially self-fertile, but for optimal yield, it is recommended to plant it alongside pollinator varieties such as Zustrich, Chudo-vishnya, and Morozivka. Fruits of this variety are widely used fresh, as well as for making jams, jellies, wine, and freezing.
