Supernitsia is a medium-sized tree with an elevated, moderately dense, pyramidal crown. It is characterized by moderate winter hardiness and high drought tolerance, making the variety suitable for cultivation in various climatic conditions. The tree begins to bear fruit on the 3rd-4th year after planting, with an average yield of about 30 kg of berries per tree. The variety is self-sterile, so it is recommended to plant other cherry or plum varieties nearby for pollination.
The fruits of the Supernitsia variety have a mass of 5.5 to 8 grams and are distinguished by a dark red or amber color with a carmine blush. The berries are heart-shaped, with a dense, juicy flesh that has a sweet taste with a slight acidity or chocolate notes. The juice is colorless, and the stone is of medium or small size, easily separating from the flesh. The fruits ripen in mid-term — from mid-June to the second half of July — making the variety versatile for fresh consumption and processing.
Supernitsia is a hybrid of cherry and plum, known as 'cherewishnya,' created by breeders of the Melitopol Research Station for Horticulture named M.F. Sidorenko. The variety is distinguished by high resistance to stressful weather conditions, pests, and diseases, although it is sensitive to moniliosis. Due to its taste qualities, rapid fruiting, and high yield, Supernitsia is popular among gardeners and has universal applications.
