The "Vika ORLOVSKAYA 84" variety is an annual seed crop from the legume family, intended for cultivation in moderate climatic conditions. The plant is characterized by erect growth up to 1.2–1.5 m tall, large oval leaves with a light greyish-green hue, and good air permeability. The seeds have a light brown color, round shape, a diameter of about 3 mm, and contain approximately 20–22% protein and 12–14% fat, making them a valuable feed for livestock.
The yield of the variety reaches 4.5–5 t/ha under optimal conditions. The plant is drought-resistant: it withstands intermediate dry periods without a significant decrease in productivity. In addition, "Vika ORLOVSKAYA 84" has high resistance to fungal infections such as pollen rot and powdery mildew, but in the event of root system damage, regular monitoring and timely application of fungicides are required.
The growth period is 90–110 days from sowing to full seed maturity. The variety is suitable for producing feed grains in the Central Chernozem and North Caucasian regions, where it demonstrates good economic returns due to high yields of green mass and seeds. With intensive cultivation, the plant may lead to nitrogen accumulation in the soil, so it is recommended to follow balanced agronomic practices.
