Obskaya 16 is a high-yield spring wheat variety designed for sowing under temperate climate conditions. The plant reaches a height of 85 to 127 cm, the leaves are green and erect-incurved, and the flower has a purple hue. The vegetation period is 81 days, allowing for planning the full growing cycle within a single season.
The variety is distinguished by its high yield potential: under optimal conditions, a crop mass of up to 8–9 t/ha is possible, and the average yield of green mass, recalculated to dry matter, is 35.4 c/ha, which is higher than the average standard. The maximum yield reaches 72.4 c/ha, confirming its competitiveness among modern spring varieties.
Obskaya 16 is characterized by resistance to major diseases – rots, powdery mildew, and rust disease, as well as low water requirements. For sowing, the period from January 15 to 20 at a soil temperature of +5 to +10 °C is recommended, with a planting depth of 2–3 cm. The fertilizer requirement is 120–150 kg/ha of nitrogen, 80–100 kg/ha of phosphorus, and 30–40 kg/ha of potassium.
Grain quality is characterized by a white color, medium-heavy texture, and high protein content, making it valuable both for the food industry and for feed bases. The variety is suitable for intensive cultivation technology and can be used in direct combine harvesting with oats, ensuring processing convenience and resource savings.
