Vegetable pea Berkut is a mid-early shelling variety intended for fresh consumption, canning, and freezing. Plants reach a height of 70-80 cm and require tying for support. Pods are slightly curved, up to 10 cm long, containing 9-10 wrinkled seeds with a yellowish-green tint. Flowers are medium-sized and white, while leaves are medium-sized with a waxy coating. The maturity period is 60-72 days from germination to the start of harvest, with uniform ripening. Berkut variety is characterized by high yield — from 0.6 to 0.9 kg of green peas per square meter, equivalent to 64-100 centners per hectare. The yield of green peas from pods is 41-45%. Peas have excellent taste qualities: sweet and tender taste, and protein content in seeds reaches 6.3-6.6%. The mass of 1000 seeds varies from 183 to 190 grams. The plant is resistant to lodging and prefers sunny areas for growing, although it can also grow in partial shade. Sowing is recommended in April-May at a depth of 4-6 cm with a row spacing of 15x30 cm. Pea Berkut is suitable for growing on loamy and clay soils with moderate moisture and requires infrequent watering. Due to its dietary properties, richness in proteins, sugars, starch, vitamins, and carotene, this variety is ideal for preparing sides, soups, and other home dishes, as well as for canning and freezing.
