Amager 611

Cabbage Amaher 611 — a late-maturing universal variety widely used for pickling due to its excellent taste qualities. The crop matures within 117-148 days, and under unfavorable conditions, it may extend up to 175 days. Heads are round-oval or round in shape, characterized by high density and weight ranging from 2.2 to 4 kg. Leaves are covered with a waxy coating, have a green-blue hue, and serrated edges. After harvest, heads are recommended to be slightly rested to improve taste before pickling.

The plant prefers well-cultivated neutral or slightly acidic soils and does not tolerate sandy or waterlogged areas. For planting, direct sowing under plastic film in open ground or transplanting seedlings until late May can be used. The optimal spacing between plants is 60x60 cm, and planting depth should reach the first true leaf without burying the terminal bud. Cabbage is moisture-loving and requires regular watering and standard agronomic practices. It is frost-resistant up to -3°C and can maintain marketable quality even under drought conditions.

The variety has high transportability and resistance to head cracking, facilitating harvest and storage. Harvesting occurs from September to early November, and the crop can remain on the root until the first frost. Under proper storage conditions, heads can retain freshness for up to three months; however, improper storage may lead to gray mold and spot necrosis. Due to insufficient immunity to fusarium and bacterial diseases, additional protective measures are recommended to preserve the yield.
