Tulip Wageningen

A Benchmark in Triumph Tulip Breeding

The «Wageningen» tulip is a distinguished representative of the Triumph class, named after the Dutch city synonymous with top-tier agricultural research. This hybrid represents a milestone in commercial floriculture, combining robust structural integrity with a unique color palette that appeals to both large-scale producers and florists.

Technical Specifications and Plant Profile

As a mid-season flowering variety, Wageningen is highly regarded for its reliability in controlled environment cultivation. Its key attributes include:

• Class: Triumph (Triumph tulip type).
• Petal Color: A sophisticated blend of deep red with pronounced lilac undertones.
• Plant Height: Medium, optimized for high-density planting and ease of mechanized handling.

The primary advantage of the Wageningen variety is its durability. It features a sturdy stem and a compact, elegant goblet-shaped bloom that resists premature opening. These traits ensure that the flowers maintain their aesthetic appeal during extended transport and prolonged display in vases, making them a preferred choice for supply chains requiring high post-harvest longevity.

Market Positioning

In the contemporary tulip market, Wageningen occupies a stable niche. The unique crimson-lilac gradient provides a level of visual complexity that standard monochrome reds often lack. For professional growers, the consistency in development and growth timing allows for precise scheduling of yields, ensuring optimal market entry. This predictability, combined with the plant's resilience, establishes Wageningen as a trusted workhorse in the commercial greenhouse industry.
