Tulip Washington

Efficiency and Reliability in Tulip Production

The Washington tulip, part of the Triumph class, is designed for growers who prioritize consistency and ease of maintenance in their greenhouse operations. During the growing cycle, this variety proves its robustness by showing high resistance to common threats such as Verticillium wilt, Fusarium wilt, and Tobacco mosaic virus. For an operator, this translates to fewer chemical interventions and a highly predictable yield of market-grade flowers.

Operational Performance and Management

As a mid-season bloomer, Washington allows for a balanced production schedule, fitting perfectly between early-forced crops and late-blooming varieties. The plant features a tall, sturdy stem, which significantly streamlines the harvesting and packing processes. The structural integrity of the plant ensures excellent post-harvest performance: the stems remain rigid during transit, and the buds maintain their classic shape even after cold storage.

Visual Appeal and Market Demand

The Washington profile is defined by a bold yellow and red color scheme. This classic dual-tone combination is a staple in the retail market, consistently attracting high consumer interest. The height of the plant allows for striking floral arrangements, making it a preferred choice for florists who value structural aesthetics and consistent bloom size.

• Pathogen Resistance: Strong natural defenses against Fusarium, Verticillium, and Tobacco mosaic virus.
• Efficiency: Mid-season bloom timing with high rates of commercial-grade output.
• Marketability: Classic color palette that performs consistently well in retail environments.

The Washington variety is essentially a low-maintenance, high-output cultivar. By maintaining standard temperature and hydration protocols, growers can achieve professional-level results with minimal losses, making this an ideal choice for scaling production.
