Tulip West Point

The Sophistication of West Point Lily-Flowered Tulips

The 'West Point' tulip represents a benchmark in the lily-flowered category, recognized for its refined, elongated petals that gracefully recurve at the tips. This variety has solidified its market reputation as a reliable choice for professional landscapers and discerning gardeners alike. Its distinct, vibrant yellow hue creates a visual anchor in spring displays, setting it apart from traditional goblet-shaped tulips.

Agricultural Resilience and Health

Beyond its aesthetic appeal, 'West Point' is valued for its robust genetic constitution. Cultivation data confirms its superior resistance to several critical fungal pathogens, ensuring less reliance on chemical treatments. The variety shows significant tolerance to:

• Downy mildew (Peronospora);
• Phomopsis;
• Phoma (Phomosis).

This natural resistance profile makes it a stable and cost-effective selection for large-scale planting and intensive garden layouts, minimizing the risks associated with wet or unpredictable spring weather.

Market Positioning and Utility

As a mid-season flowering variety of average height, 'West Point' provides exceptional versatility. It functions perfectly in the middle tier of perennial borders, where its strong stems ensure that the blooms remain upright even under challenging conditions. In the floral industry, this variety is highly sought after for its longevity as a cut flower and its ability to pair well with both contrasting dark-toned tulips and delicate spring foliage. 'West Point' continues to be a staple in the market, combining classic elegance with modern horticultural standards.
