Growing Gaillardia 'Zabava': Field Observations

When working with planting material from 'Kapris' farm, the stability of germination is the first thing that stands out. In field conditions, the 'Zabava' variety proves to be an undemanding crop, which is critical for farms aiming to minimize manual labor. Unlike many imported hybrids that require greenhouse-like conditions, this variety, developed with the involvement of Vyacheslav Shepelev, is well-adapted to regional climatic conditions.

Agronomic Features and Performance

During the flowering stage, the variety displays high ornamental value. We have identified several key characteristics that impact its marketability:

• Flower Coloration: The blend of yellow-red and orange-red tones creates a striking visual volume.
• Sturdiness: The stems are robust and resistant to lodging, even during heavy rain, which simplifies mechanical harvesting or cutting.
• Bloom Duration: The variety features an extended budding interval, allowing the field to maintain its visual appeal for a longer period.

Crop maintenance is limited to standard procedures: timely irrigation during dry spells and preventive pest control. 'Zabava' does not require specific, expensive agrochemicals, which significantly lowers the cost per hectare. Given the original breeding efforts of 'Kapris' farm, the seed stock shows excellent purity and no contamination with foreign matter.
