Tulip Topstar

Elegance in Lilac: Why 'Topstar' Stands Out Among Double Tulips

Among late-flowering double tulips, 'Topstar' occupies a unique niche. The main visual hallmark of this variety is its dense, double flower, which resembles a lush peony, saturated in a rich lilac hue. Unlike many early varieties that fade quickly under the spring sun, this tulip retains its bud density and petal vibrancy until the very end of the season.

Agronomic Advantages

A key factor that makes 'Topstar' the preferred choice for professionals and experienced gardeners is its phytosanitary resilience. While many ornamental bulbous plants are susceptible to fungal infections, this variety shows pronounced immunity to:

• Downy mildew (Peronospora);
• Phomopsis and Phoma;
• Rust.

This high level of resistance significantly reduces the need for fungicide applications, which is particularly important in high-density flower beds or regions with high spring humidity.

Who Is This Variety For?

'Topstar' belongs to the medium-height category of its class, making it an ideal tool for landscape design. It maintains its vertical posture perfectly, even in windy weather, requiring no staking. By choosing this hybrid, you get a predictable result: it blooms when other spring bulbs have already gone dormant, extending the aesthetic appeal of your garden by two to three weeks. It is the optimal choice for those who value the combination of peony-like beauty and low-maintenance care.
