Tulip Ruby Red

Stability and Health in Spring Planting

The 'Ruby Red' tulip is a top choice for professional growers focused on predictable yields with minimal fungicide application. As a member of the Single Early tulip class, this variety integrates seamlessly into standard forcing schedules and landscape designs, offering pure color and steady growth patterns.

Agrotechnical Advantages

The core value of Ruby Red lies in its genetic resistance to common pathogens that often lead to crop failure:

• Phytosanitary Reliability: The plant exhibits high resistance to Verticillium wilt and Fusarium wilt. This allows for cultivation in fields with intensive crop rotation where soilborne fungal pressure is a concern.
• Viral Resistance: Its tolerance to Tomato Mosaic Virus and Cladosporium rot makes it a safe companion for mixed plantings, significantly reducing the risk of disease transmission to other bulbous crops.

Practical Application in Farm Operations

The medium stem height and classic red petals make Ruby Red a versatile tool for two primary production areas:

1. Forcing for Cut Flowers: Due to its moderate blooming schedule and sturdy stems, the variety is ideal for early spring bouquets. It responds reliably to greenhouse temperature protocols, minimizing the occurrence of 'blind' buds.
2. Landscape Design and Greening: In open-field conditions, the variety is prized for its resilience. It requires no specialized coverage and demonstrates high survival rates during late spring frosts. The vibrant, deep red color remains vivid even under intense sunlight, resisting fading in the days following bud opening.

When planning your planting schedule, ensure standard drainage protocols are followed. Despite its robust disease resistance, preventing waterlogging remains the key factor to ensuring uniform plant height throughout the bed.
