Tulip Petticoat

Elegant Fringed Tulips for Professional Landscapes

The 'Petticoat' tulip is a standout choice within the fringed class, favored for its striking aesthetic and dependable performance. Known for its intense red petals tipped with delicate, needle-like fringes, this variety adds a premium tactile quality to any garden bed or floral arrangement.

Field Performance and Agricultural Utility

• Blooming Schedule: As a mid-season bloomer, 'Petticoat' bridges the gap between early-spring and late-spring varieties, making it an essential component for extended-bloom landscape planning.
• Structural Benefits: The medium height of this variety provides excellent structural integrity. Unlike taller, more fragile tulips, 'Petticoat' demonstrates strong resistance to lodging, even in open areas prone to wind.
• Practical Scenarios: This tulip is highly versatile—it performs exceptionally well in mass plantings to create deep, consistent red color blocks, and it is a preferred candidate for cut flower production. The robustness of the petals ensures a longer vase life, which is critical for market-oriented cultivation.

For optimal results, ensure planting sites have well-draining soil, as fringed varieties require adequate drainage during their dormancy period. 'Petticoat' offers a successful combination of decorative sophistication and agricultural predictability, making it a reliable asset for both professional landscapers and commercial growers.
