Tulip Red Wing

Red Wing: A Benchmark for Fringed Tulips

In the competitive world of floral production, the Red Wing tulip has earned its reputation as a reliable and visually striking choice. As a member of the fringed tulip category, it combines the delicate aesthetics of its needle-like petal edges with the rugged constitution required for both commercial forcing and outdoor landscaping.

Key Attributes and Market Standing

For growers, the primary appeal of Red Wing lies in its genetic vigor. It is notably resistant to Fusarium wilt and anthracnose, two of the most common and devastating threats to bulbous crops. This resilience translates into lower labor costs for chemical treatments and a higher percentage of marketable yields.

• Type: Fringed (Crispa). The petals feature a distinct, crystalline fringe that provides a unique texture.
• Color: A deep, vibrant red that maintains its intensity throughout the blooming period.
• Structure: A medium-height plant with a sturdy stem, capable of supporting its large bloom without staking.
• Seasonality: Mid-season flowering, making it a versatile element in spring floral arrangements.

Red Wing is frequently cited by industry professionals as a "low-risk" variety. Its predictable growth cycle and hardiness against environmental pathogens have solidified its place in the market as a go-to cultivar for those who demand consistency in their flower production.
