Tulip Piccolo

The Market Position of Pizzolo

The Pizzolo tulip is a late-blooming, low-growing hybrid specifically engineered for professional landscaping and container gardening. It occupies a unique niche for growers who require a plant that combines intense red aesthetics with high field performance, making it a reliable choice for urban landscaping and decorative garden beds.

Pathogen Resistance Profile

The primary commercial appeal of Pizzolo lies in its robust health. Unlike many ornamental bulbs susceptible to soil-borne pathogens, this variety is characterized by high resistance to:

• Fusarium wilt;
• Verticillium wilt;
• Tobacco mosaic virus;
• Cladosporiosis.

This genetic resistance significantly reduces the need for frequent fungicide applications, making it an economically and ecologically viable option for large-scale landscaping projects.

Application and Visual Impact

As a late-season bloomer, Pizzolo provides vibrant red color well after early spring varieties have faded. Its low stature makes it perfect for foreground planting in beds, rock gardens, or pots. By integrating Pizzolo into planting schemes, gardeners achieve a blend of visual impact and horticultural security, ensuring a lower failure rate during the growing season.
