Tulip Montevideo

Steel character in a classic silhouette

The Montevideo tulip (Triumph class) is arguably the most sought-after variety among professional growers for its perfect balance between elegant flower form and robust plant hardiness. If you are looking for a variety that combines visual impact with a level of resilience rarely seen in bulbous crops, this hybrid is a must-have for your catalog.

Why Montevideo is a pragmatist's choice

The main differentiator of this variety from others in the Triumph class lies in its exceptional phytosanitary profile. Its breeding focused on minimizing the risks typically associated with commercial tulip production:

• Comprehensive resistance: The plant is highly resistant to Fusarium and Verticillium wilt. This is critical for high-intensity soil usage.
• Virus and fungus defense: The hybrid effectively resists Tomato Mosaic Virus and Cladosporium, allowing for a reduction in chemical treatments across the plantation.

Visually, Montevideo is a masterclass in contrast. The yellow-red palette remains vivid and does not fade in the sun, maintaining its saturation throughout the mid-season blooming period. The plant's medium height provides excellent structural integrity, ensuring the stem remains upright even against strong spring winds.

Who is this variety for?

Montevideo is optimal for farming operations aiming to produce high-quality cut flowers for spring holidays. It is forgiving of minor agricultural oversights that would be fatal for more sensitive varieties, delivering yield stability under standard forcing conditions. It is the go-to choice for growers who prioritize predictable results without the constant burden of fighting pathogens.
