Peony Moon of Nippon

Strategic Early Bloom for Landscapes and Floristry

The 'Moon of Nippon' herbaceous peony, developed by the Russian Horticultural Federal Center, offers a distinct advantage for those looking to kickstart the floral season. With a bloom window from May 15th to May 30th, this variety performs exceptionally well when early, high-quality blooms are in high demand.

Cultivation and Practical Handling

• Structural Integrity: Growing to a height of 80–100 cm, the plant maintains a sturdy, upright habit. It is highly manageable in a garden setting, often requiring minimal intervention regarding supports if planted in a wind-sheltered area.
• Floral Performance: The 17 cm semi-double flowers are the primary asset. The striking contrast between the crisp white petals and the vibrant yellow center makes this a focal point in any garden design.
• Cut Flower Potential: 'Moon of Nippon' is bred for professional-grade cutting. The stems provide the ideal length for bouquets, and the vase life is reliable, meeting the standards required for commercial floral retail.

Maintenance is straightforward, following the standard regimen for herbaceous peonies: ensuring adequate moisture during the bud-set phase and post-bloom fertilization. Because this variety is native to the region's breeding programs, it exhibits strong winter hardiness and excellent soil adaptability, making it a low-maintenance, high-reward choice for both professional growers and garden enthusiasts.
