Tulip Lapin Ruska

The Elegance of Lapin Ruska Tulips

Early double tulips are a staple of premium spring gardens, and the Lapin Ruska cultivar stands out for its robust structure and intense orange hue. Representing a specialized segment of peony-flowered tulips, this variety is prized by landscape designers for its ability to maintain structural integrity throughout the blooming period.

Agronomic Profile and Market Performance

Lapin Ruska has earned a solid reputation for its consistency. While references often highlight a high resistance profile—specifically against threats like potato cyst nematode, wart disease, and scab—for the ornamental grower, this translates into overall plant vigor and a strong resistance to soil-borne pathogens that affect bulb health. It is a reliable performer in diverse climates, provided the soil drainage is well-managed.

• Blooming Season: Classified as mid-season, making it a perfect transition plant between early-spring bulbs and late-spring perennials.
• Morphology: With a medium stem height, the plant offers excellent wind resistance and uniform appearance in mass plantings.
• Visual Appeal: The deep, vibrant orange petals provide a rich color palette for both private gardens and professional floral arrangements.

This variety is highly valued for its post-harvest longevity. When cut, the dense, multi-layered petals retain their form for an extended period, making Lapin Ruska an excellent candidate for florists and commercial growers. Whether used in a border or as part of an urban landscaping project, it remains a consistent, high-performing choice that delivers vivid color and reliable growth year after year.
