Tulip Foxtrot

The Art of Double Flowering

The 'Foxtrot' tulip stands out in the early double-flowering class due to its unique transformation: as the bloom matures, the soft pink petals deepen in color, creating a dense, peony-like appearance. It is an excellent choice for those seeking reliability without sacrificing ornamental density.

Technical Strengths

• Disease Resilience: The variety exhibits significant resistance to common bulb diseases, including downy mildew (Peronospora), Phomopsis, and Phoma. This makes it a preferred choice for temperate zones where spring moisture fluctuates significantly.
• Structural Integrity: Its medium height provides a sturdy stem, ensuring the plant remains upright even in gusty spring weather—a clear advantage over taller, more fragile varieties.

Optimal Use Cases

‘Foxtrot’ is best suited for layered garden beds where timing is crucial. Its mid-season bloom window acts as a perfect transition between early botanical bulbs and late-blooming hybrids. A potential challenge is its requirement for well-drained soil; while it is robust against foliage fungi, excessive water retention during the dormant season can still compromise the bulb. For growers, this variety offers a high return on investment in terms of aesthetic impact and low maintenance needs.
