Chrysanthemum GOLDEN ROY

Cultivation and management of 'Zolotoy ROY'

As a grower, managing the 'Zolotoy ROY' chrysanthemum requires a precise operational strategy due to its late-blooming cycle. This variety hits its peak in November, making it a critical asset for extending the market season. Its ability to maintain decorative quality for over 40 days makes it a high-value product for late autumn harvesting.

Technical specifications and performance

• Dimensions: The plant height ranges from 30 to 60 cm. It is versatile, functioning equally well as a container plant or in high-density garden plots.
• Bloom characteristics: The flower features a dense, pompon shape with a diameter exceeding 10 cm. This structural integrity provides excellent durability for transport and long-lasting vase life.
• Resilience: The medium cold resistance requires careful temperature monitoring. Growers should be prepared to provide protection against early November frosts if cultivating in open ground.

Operating this variety involves active plant management. Given the large, heavy pompon blooms, proper staking is required for cut-flower production to ensure stem stability. In container production, the variety responds well to growth regulators, which help in maintaining its compact, marketable form. The main challenge for the agronomist is navigating the November climate; however, the reward is a premium, vibrant yellow flower produced at a time when the rest of the supply chain is winding down. It is not a 'set-it-and-forget-it' variety, but rather a professional tool for maximizing output at the end of the growing cycle.
