Tulip Hans Anrud

Technical Profile of the Cultivar

The 'Hans Anrud' tulip belongs to the Triumph class, which dictates its biological architecture and growth model. This variety is engineered for intensive cultivation: its sturdy, medium-height peduncle is capable of supporting a massive flower head even under windy conditions. The primary node of the plant is a dense bulb with high vegetative energy, ensuring a vigorous start during the early spring period.

Morphology and Vegetative Cycle

• Flowering: The mid-season bloom timing effectively mitigates the risk of nocturnal frosts often seen in earlier groups.
• Pigmentation: The deep lilac hue of the petals is due to a high concentration of anthocyanins, rendering the variety resistant to fading under direct UV exposure.
• Flower Construction: The goblet shape with rigid petal edges prevents premature opening or ‘shattering’ during fluctuations in humidity.

Practical Adaptability

A key feature of this hybrid is its specific selective resistance to soil-borne pathogens, including those causing clubroot. This significantly reduces the need for aggressive fungicide applications during soil preparation. The nutritional strategy requires the standard nitrogen-potassium balance typical of the Triumph class to ensure the development of a high-quality flower stem and proper maturation of daughter bulbs. This cultivar is highly suitable for both professional landscape design and commercial forcing due to its predictable development cycle and uniform growth habit.
