Tulip Falcon

Strategic Advantages of the Falcon Tulip

Falcon is a classic Triumph tulip variety, widely recognized for its robust performance in professional forcing and floral cut-flower production. Its distinctive red and mauve coloration combined with a classic goblet shape makes it a high-demand commodity during peak spring seasons. For commercial growers, Falcon represents a reliable balance between aesthetic appeal and structural durability.

Practical Applications and Management

The variety is primarily chosen by commercial farms to meet specific market goals. Here is how to leverage its characteristics in your operation:

• Commercial Forcing: Its mid-season blooming window allows producers to synchronize harvests with specific market spikes.
• Cut-Flower Quality: The high stem length and sturdy peduncle allow for elegant long-stem bouquets, which command premium pricing.
• Landscape Use: Given its significant height, Falcon serves as an excellent structural plant for formal garden borders, maintaining its posture even in windy conditions.

When grown in a greenhouse, Falcon responds best to controlled climate settings. Growers should monitor humidity levels closely to prevent botrytis on the dense flower heads. Because of its vigorous growth pattern, maintaining optimal spacing is crucial to ensure that each plant receives sufficient light, which prevents stem elongation and ensures the integrity of its signature color profile.

Agronomic Tips for High Yields

To maximize production, focus on potassium-rich fertilization during the pre-blooming phase to strengthen the cell walls of the stem. Since this variety reaches a tall stature, soil stability and proper drainage are essential to prevent lodging. In outdoor settings, Falcon excels due to its climate resilience, making it a low-maintenance choice for professional landscapers who require high-impact visual results without the need for constant staking.
