Iris "Holy George" is a hybrid bearded variety that quickly attracts attention with its bright and saturated coloring. The flowers have a blue‑violet hue with white central areas and lilac veins, while the beard features a blue base with a light orange foundation. The aroma is strong, and the blooms do not fade under prolonged sun exposure.
The plant reaches a height of 70–80 cm (some descriptions mention up to 100 cm), making it suitable for both flower beds and borders. The leaves are sword-shaped with a waxy coating and gather in fan-like bunches, while the bulb is egg-shaped, elongated, and up to 4 cm long. "Holy George" reproduces quickly in the garden and is resistant to adverse weather conditions, including cold winters and hot weather.
Blooming begins in late May – early June (depending on the region) and continues until July. The variety is perfect for decorating various types of flower gardens, especially when planted in groups, and can also be used for cut flowers due to its hardiness under different growing conditions. For optimal growth, a light spot protected from wind is recommended, soil – light or medium, fertile and well-drained, pH 6.5–7.5.
