Tulip Don Quichotte

Stability and Performance in Tulip Production

When working with the 'Don Quichotte' variety, agronomists value it for its resilience in high-intensity production environments. This Triumph class tulip acts as a reliable workhorse: when basic agronomic protocols are followed, it yields a predictable output of marketable flowers with minimal culling. Its resistance to Fusarium and Verticillium wilt is not just a spec sheet feature, but a genuine reduction in operational costs — you spend less time on fungicide treatments and less money on disposing of diseased bulbs.

Operational Characteristics

• Type: Triumph class — an optimal balance between peduncle height and bud density.
• Timing: Mid-season flowering, which allows for effective scheduling of production during the main season.
• Dimensions: The medium height of the plant prevents lodging even in windy conditions, which is critical for maintaining commercial quality.
• Color: A saturated, classic pink hue that consistently commands high retail demand.

Maintenance of 'Don Quichotte' does not require specialized knowledge. The bulb responds well to standard feeding and irrigation schemes. During the harvesting phase, the variety demonstrates excellent durability: the stem does not deform under the weight of the large bud, and the petals retain their firmness even during long-distance transport. This makes it a favorite for growers focusing on wholesale supplies and long-chain distribution.

For the operator, this tulip is comfortable because it remains stable even when temperature fluctuations occur within the normal range. You receive a uniform, homogeneous batch of flowers, which simplifies pre-sale preparation — packaging and sorting are significantly faster when you don't have to cull non-standard specimens.
