Tulip Doorman's Record

The Aesthetics of 'Doorman's Record': Tulip as Art

Doorman's Record is a standout among parrot tulips, distinguished from classic cup-shaped varieties by its eccentric appearance. Its petals, resembling exotic feathers with a deep red hue, add drama and structural elegance to any flower bed. Unlike many varieties that lose their decorative appeal quickly, this tulip retains its complex bud structure even at the peak of bloom.

Agronomic Reliability

The primary argument for choosing 'Doorman's Record' is its robust resistance to diseases that often devastate bulbs in high-humidity conditions. Breeders have achieved significant immunity against:

• Verticillium wilt, which typically attacks the root system.
• Sclerotinia (white mold), preventing basal rot.
• Phomopsis, minimizing the risk of spotting on leaves and stems.

This makes the variety highly predictable in terms of cultivation: the risk of losing stock to fungal infections is minimal with proper care.

Who is this variety for?

'Doorman's Record' is the ideal choice for landscape designers creating accent displays and gardeners prioritizing luxury cut flowers. Its medium height makes it versatile for both foreground planting and container gardening. The main drawback is its susceptibility to strong winds: due to the heavy, lush buds, stems may require support in exposed areas. However, the stunning visual impact far outweighs the need for extra maintenance.
