Tulip Chato

Focus on Durability: Why "Chato" is a Professional Choice

The "Chato" tulip is a late-blooming double variety that has gained popularity in commercial floriculture due to its remarkable resilience. In the world of bulb production, fungal pathogens are the primary cause of losses; however, Chato demonstrates significant natural resistance to both Verticillium and Fusarium wilt. For professional growers, this means higher yield stability and reduced dependency on aggressive chemical fungicide treatments.

Practical Applications and Scenarios

This variety is engineered for high-efficiency production in two main sectors:

• Commercial Forcing: With its mid-season bloom and dense, peony-like rose-colored blossoms, Chato fills a strategic gap in the market. The robust structure of the petals ensures excellent vase life and makes them highly resistant to mechanical damage during transportation.
• Landscaping and Public Displays: Its medium height and sturdy stem allow Chato to withstand adverse weather conditions without lodging. This makes it an ideal candidate for professional municipal landscaping, where uniformity and long-lasting visual appeal are required.

Agronomic Best Practices

To maximize the performance of Chato, focus on soil drainage. Despite its genetic resistance to fungal infections, stagnant water remains the primary risk factor for bulb health. When forcing in greenhouses, adhere to standard cooling protocols to ensure uniform stem length. By selecting Chato, growers can streamline their production cycle, as the variety is known for predictable development and a high percentage of marketable, uniform flowers. This reliability makes it a low-risk asset for any commercial greenhouse or field operation.
