Tulip Up Stripe

A peony-like late bloomer with enhanced durability

The 'Upstar' tulip is a distinguished member of the late-flowering double (peony-flowered) group. It is prized by growers for its striking bi-color petals, which blend white and red in a sophisticated pattern. Unlike many delicate double varieties that struggle with environmental stress, Upstar brings both aesthetics and structural reliability to the garden.

Resilience against pathogens

The standout feature of this hybrid is its robust genetic profile, which addresses some of the most common issues faced by late-season tulips. Growers benefit from:

• Disease resistance: The variety shows proven resistance to Sclerotinia and Peronospora, making it a reliable choice for regions with damp spring climates.
• Pathogen defense: It demonstrates significantly lower susceptibility to Phomopsis and Phoma, reducing the need for aggressive chemical treatments during the growing season.

Best use cases

With its medium stem height, the 'Upstar' is highly versatile. It serves as an excellent "filler" for floral arrangements or as a focal point in borders. Its double blooms hold their structure well compared to other hybrids in its class. For the best results, ensure planting in well-draining soil; while the plant is resistant to fungal pathogens, good soil aeration remains critical for optimizing the development of its signature heavy, double blooms.
