It belongs to the erythrospermum type and is characterized by a medium-maturing type with a vegetation period of approximately 245 days. Plants are medium-height, around 126 cm, with dense and upright stems. The variety exhibits high adaptability, provided by high cold and drought resistance, making it suitable for cultivation in all regions of Ukraine. The seeding rate is 4.5–5.0 million viable seeds per hectare.
Kharkiv Winter Triticale has high resistance to lodging (7–8 points), shattering (9 points), and germination (9 points), and demonstrates winter and drought resistance at 8 points. The variety is resistant to a broad spectrum of diseases, including fungal diseases and powdery mildew (9 points), brown leaf rust, and leaf septoria (7 points each). The grain is well-filled, elongated, with a 1000-grain weight of about 44 g, containing 12.5% protein and 63.5% starch. The average yield with late autumn sowing is 8.62 t/ha, which consistently exceeds the standard by 1.29 t/ha, with a potential yield of up to 12 t/ha.
The variety has high economic value and is suitable for forage and technical uses. Due to its enhanced resistance to diseases and stress factors, it can be grown with minimal fungicide application. Kharkiv Winter Triticale is also suitable for bread, confectionery, and feed production, making it a versatile and profitable choice for farmers.
