CHOCOLATE STRIPED

Tomato variety Chocolate Striped is a medium-early indeterminate type with a period from germination to first harvest of about 105-110 days. Plants have medium growth strength, usually reaching a height of 1.4-1.8 meters, with thick stems and minimal suckers, which simplifies care. The variety is characterized by high yield — about 17 kg per square meter — as well as resistance to major tomato diseases, making it low-maintenance and reliable for cultivation under various conditions.

Tomato fruits have a flattened-round shape and weigh between 200 and 350 grams, sometimes reaching up to 500 grams. Their surface is smooth and glossy, colored in a rich dark brown or reddish-brown hue with distinctive thin green, olive-green, lemon-green, or bright-orange stripes and zigzags, creating a chocolate-striped effect. The flesh is dense, low-seeded, and juicy, with a very pleasant sweet taste, rich fruity aroma, and balanced acidity. Fruits rarely crack and withstand transportation well, ensuring good storability.

The Chocolate Striped variety was developed by American breeder John Ziegel through crossing several varieties, including Shimmeig Creg and pink beefsteak. It has received acclaim at international festivals for its exceptional taste and decorative appeal. It is recommended to grow tomatoes as 1-2 stems with planting density not exceeding 4 plants per square meter. Plants fruit abundantly throughout the entire growing season, starting from 80-90 days after transplanting, which allows for a stable and high-quality harvest.
