Tomato variety Striped Chocolate is an indeterminate mid-season variety developed by American breeder John Ziegel by crossing Pink Filet and Schiemmeig Greg. Plants have moderate growth, reaching 1.4 to 1.8 meters in open ground, and require minimal care due to few suckers and thick stems. The variety is high-yielding and resistant to major tomato diseases, making it low-maintenance and reliable for cultivation. The fruits of Striped Chocolate tomato are flat-round, weighing 200–350 grams, sometimes up to 500 grams. Their surface is smooth and glossy, colored in deep red or orange-brown with characteristic thin green, lime-green or chocolate stripes and zigzags, creating an exotic appearance. The flesh is dense, low-seeded, red-brown, juicy, sweet, and aromatic with a rich fruity or chocolate flavor. The fruits have excellent storability and transportability, and rarely crack even under adverse conditions. Striped Chocolate variety is recommended to be grown on 1–2 stems with planting density not exceeding 4 plants per square meter. The period from germination to first harvest is approximately 105–110 days, with fruiting lasting throughout the tomato season. Due to its unique appearance, excellent taste, and high yield, this variety is popular among both amateurs and professionals, and was awarded at the Carmel TomatoFest as one of the tastiest tomatoes.
