Tobacco Evening Bell

Technical Profile of the Variety

Tobacco variety "Vecherny Zvon" is a product of targeted selection conducted by the Federal Scientific Center for Vegetable Growing (FGBNU). The core of this variety is its large-leaf genotype, which dictates plant architecture and biomass accumulation physiology. A crucial engineering achievement in this genotype is the elevated immune status against the Colorado potato beetle, which significantly reduces the need for chemical pesticide application during the vegetative period.

Morphological Features and Agrotechnics

• Leaf Structure: Produces massive, rapidly developing leaves, necessitating a precise mineral nutrition regime to maintain high photosynthetic activity.
• Defense Mechanism: Genetic resistance to the Colorado potato beetle is achieved through specific epidermal properties and plant metabolites that render the crop an unattractive substrate for the pest.
• Originator Assurance: Trait stability is confirmed by developers at the Educational and Scientific Center of the Vegetable Research Station (author G.V. Ostryakova), ensuring predictable yields when regional guidelines are followed.

Practical implementation of this variety focuses on intensive cultivation techniques, with specific attention to soil preparation and moisture management. The large-leaf morphology requires optimal planting density to ensure proper air circulation and uniform maturation of the raw material.
