Description SLASTENA
SLASTENA — a mid-season sweet corn variety with a period from germination to technological maturity of 80-95 days. Plants reach a height of 200-230 cm and form cylindrical cobs 20-22 cm long and weighing 250-300 g. The kernels are large, yellow-orange in color with a tender skin, ensuring high taste quality. This variety is distinguished by high resistance to diseases, making it a reliable choice for cultivation.

Sweet corn SLASTENA is recommended for fresh consumption, as well as for canning and freezing. The plant is undemanding, however, it tolerates transplantations poorly, so the seedling method of cultivation is not used. Sowing is carried out directly into warmed soil at a depth of 4-5 cm at a temperature not lower than 10-12°C. To improve germination, seeds are recommended to be soaked for a day before sowing. The optimal distance between rows is 60 cm, and after the appearance of 3-4 leaves, the crops are thinned, leaving two plants per hill with a distance of 40 cm.

Care of the culture includes soil loosening, watering, and hilling before the formation of tassels. During the vegetative period, it is recommended to remove suckers on the lower leaves to improve the development of main shoots. To increase yield, pre-sowing application of superphosphate and top dressing with mineral fertilizers are used. The best predecessors for SLASTENA are melons, tomatoes, peppers, and potatoes.
