Mariyka

Sweet corn variety Mariyka is medium-early maturing and reaches technical maturity in approximately 75 days. Plants grow to a height of 180-190 cm, with a strong upright stem and pointed leaves. Ears form at a height of 50-60 cm from the ground, have a cylindrical shape 16-18 cm long, and weigh between 170 to 200 g. Kernels are arranged in 14-16 even rows, with a bicolor appearance — white and yellow — and the 1000-kernel weight is about 175 g. The ear stalk is thin and white.

The variety is characterized by high resistance to lodging and possesses distinctive flavor qualities. Kernels are sweet, juicy, and meaty, with a sugar content of 21.4% and dry matter content of 29.8%. Due to its prolonged period of sugar retention without conversion to starch, the corn retains its sweetness and tenderness for a long time after harvest.

Mariyka corn is versatile in culinary applications: it can be consumed fresh or after thermal processing. Kernels are suitable for grilling and are also excellent for canning and long-term storage. The variety requires minimal energy input during cultivation, making it attractive for farmers and gardeners.
