Titanic

Sunflower hybrid Titanic is a high-yielding Serbian selection with a short vegetation period of 100-105 days. Thanks to this, the hybrid can be successfully grown in both southern and northern regions of Ukraine. The hybrid was included in the national register of varieties in 2006 and is characterized by rapid growth in early development stages, which promotes quick row closure and suppression of weed growth.

One of the key advantages of the Titanic hybrid is its high yield, potentially reaching 50 centners per hectare, although actual yields usually range between 25-30 centners per hectare. An important feature is its well-developed root system with strong branching, which provides high drought resistance by enabling the plant to draw moisture from deeper soil layers. The thin sunflower head allows for savings on autumn desiccation, reducing maintenance costs for crops.

The Titanic hybrid possesses genetic resistance to five races of parasitic plant — sunflower dodder — as well as pests such as sunflower moth and sunflower weevil. High oil content in seeds — from 49 to 52% — makes this hybrid especially attractive for oil production. Seeds are large, reaching up to 2 cm in length, which is also suitable for use in the food industry, for example, for frying. Plant height can reach 4 meters, and head diameter varies from 30 to 70 cm, indicating strong development and high productivity of the crop.
