Hybrid sunflower Torino is a mid-early linoleic hybrid developed for the Clearfield production system. Maturation period ranges from 110 to 116 days, enabling optimal harvest timing. The hybrid exhibits high resistance to imidazolinone herbicides, providing effective control of a broad spectrum of weeds, including the parasitic weed wolf (volchok). Torino is adapted to various soil-climatic conditions, especially thriving in the Ukrainian forest-steppe zone, where yields reach 30–35 c/ha. Due to its resistance to stress factors such as drought and minor weed infestation, the hybrid can maintain stable yields even under adverse conditions. Hybrid Torino features high yield potential — from 3.5 to 5.4 tons per hectare — and high oil content in seeds. Seeds are large, XL-sized, making them attractive for the confectionery industry due to improved taste, color, and size. Plant height ranges from 160 to 185 cm, and seeding density varies depending on regional water availability, ranging from 40,000 to 60,000 plants per hectare. Torino demonstrates good resistance to lodging and uniform flowering, contributing to high-quality yield formation. The hybrid shows satisfactory resistance to major sunflower diseases, including phomopsis, sclerotinia, and stem necrosis, as well as moderate resistance to downy mildew, thus it is recommended to avoid planting on infected fields. Throughout the entire vegetation period, the plant maintains good phytosanitary condition, positively affecting both quality and quantity of yield.
