ES London SU is a medium-early sunflower hybrid developed by the LІDEA brand, intended for cultivation in forest-steppe, steppe zones, and the Polissia region of Ukraine. It belongs to the moderately-intensive hybrid type with a vegetation period of 106–110 days and plant height of 167–172 cm. The sunflower head is semi-tilted, with a diameter of 22–24 cm, and the oil content of the seeds reaches 49–50%. The hybrid features a strong stem and well-developed root system, contributing to resistance against lodging and shattering.
ES London SU is characterized by high growth energy in early stages, ensuring rapid and effective plant development during the most vulnerable periods. It exhibits high drought resistance and is well-adapted to stressful conditions, including water deficit and intense solar radiation, typical for steppe regions. Thanks to these qualities, the hybrid consistently forms a yield even under challenging climatic conditions.
The hybrid is resistant to parasitic weeds, particularly most strains of sunflower dodder, due to genetic resistance and protection by OR Master Essential®. It is also less sensitive to pathogens such as false powdery mildew, Phomopsis, stem and head sclerotinia, rust, verticillium wilt, and black mold. ES London SU responds well to agronomic practices and can be grown on sites with pre-existing weed infestation, adapted to low agrofond, making it a profitable choice for oil-producing farms.
