Sa Lana

Sunflower Sa Lana — this is a high-yielding, simple hybrid of the new generation, developed by the Institute of Field and Vegetable Crops in Novi Sad (Serbia) and produced in Ukraine. It has a vegetation period of 109–113 days and a genetic yield potential up to 52 centners per hectare, although some sources note yields up to 60 centners per hectare. Plants reach a height of 160–180 cm, have medium-thick stems and heads, and a moderately deep root system, which contributes to stability and good growth under various climatic conditions. The Sa Lana hybrid is distinguished by high oil content in seeds — from 48 to 53% — making it attractive for the oil industry. The 1000-seed mass is 55–70 g, and the seed moisture content ranges from 20 to 225%. Special attention has been paid to resistance to pathogens and pests: the hybrid is genetically resistant to false powdery mildew, rust (races A–G), and exhibits high resistance ratings to rust, fomopsis, fomosis, alternaria, and gray mold, ensuring stable yields and reducing the need for intensive plant protection. Sa Lana is recommended for cultivation across various regions of Ukraine, including forest-steppe, central, and southern steppes, with optimal planting density at harvest ranging from 40 to 60 thousand plants per hectare depending on the zone. This hybrid ensures a stable and high yield when agronomic requirements are met, making it a profitable choice for farmers focused on quality and efficient sunflower production.
